Gigi has been the best addition to our child’s education in years! Not only has she helped our daughter with her homework and grades, but she instilled a confidence in Grace and added to her success as an overall student. Our daughter, Grace, is in 10th grade at a private school in San Diego. We pay for a private education because our local schools give attention to the kids that are “gifted” or underserved. If you are just an above average student, you are on your own. Although we pay for this private education with smaller class sizes, Grace was still struggling in math and science. Her current teachers are young and teach what they know, but do not teach to the student’s needs. Gigi has made all the difference and worth the cost of private tutoring. Gigi has a intuitive way of connecting with the students learning style. She varies her methods according to what the student actually needs. She adapts her lesson plans to what Grace needs in math and chemistry. Some days it is learning new math concepts, some days homework, some days preparing for tests. Gigi has helped Grace boost her grades by a mark in each class. Grace feels more prepared and more confident going to class, handing in her homework assignments, actually understanding the concepts and taking her tests. Recently, Grace’s math teacher noticed the difference because Grace scored a 93% on a test, up from 72% pre-Gigi. The difference was so great, the teacher was curious or suspicious. Grace proudly told her teacher that she was working with Gigi who helped her to learn the new math concepts and prepare for the exam. We are grateful for Gigi’s patience, flexibility, and creative teaching and tutoring. Gigi appears to be one of those truly gifted teachers that could teach anything to any student even if she did not specialize in the subject or know the student. We really wish she was Grace’s actual math and chemistry teacher at her private school, but feel blessed that we have her as our tutor. Sincerely, Cindy, Ed and Grace Furey
My daughter enjoys her tutoring sessions with Gigi Lavaggi. She has been unable to grasp some of the concepts that she is taught in her Algebra and Chemistry classes in school, but finds that Gigi teaches them in a way that she can understand. She is patient with her, explaining the concepts in different ways until she grasps them fully. My daughter is comfortable asking her questions and letting her know what she is struggling with. She often leverages Gigi’s help prior to tests, to review what she will be tested on, and this has helped improve her grades. My daughter told me that she feels that Gigi truly cares that she is learning, not moving on to other concepts until she is sure my daughter understands what she has taught. Gigi also provides valuable feedback to me about my daughter’s progress. I would strongly recommend Gigi as a tutor for other students.
